The way we celebrated, America's Birthday! The good, the bad, and the Pinterest FAIL!!

My family packed up our mini van with tents, fishing poles, sleeping bags, and lots of snacks.  We then drove through two states and some windmills to our family cabin in Big Bear, California!

Upon arriving in Big Bear we set up our tents in the back yard since the entire family was coming and the cabin does not have sleeping accommodations for  15 people and four dogs!  Plus it kind of added to the excitement of the weekend (camping with all the cousins!)  Once everyone had arrived we decorated our campground (backyard) with festive All American decor!

We sat in festive chairs and on Festive Blankets!  We wore festive clothes!

We walked to the Local craft fair and got big balloon hats, jet packs, and festive tattoos!

We took some cool old western town pictures!

We  roasted marshmallows and attempted some Pinterest Kahlua shots!  I wish to see another marshmallow..NEVER!

We gathered up the group for some Fireworks over the lake :)

The following day was rainy, so the cousins played lots of board games!  We had the excitement of an Earthquake that jolted the cabin pretty good, some thunder and lightning, mudslides, and road closures!  We found a lost dog and after extensive investigative work, returned him to his owners.  We had lunch at the local pizza place and then went fishing at the marsh!

PopPop got a few nibbles on his bait, other than that it was just a fun experience for everyone!

We had a wonderful all American weekend full of family, BBQ, fishing, and fireworks!  I am proud to be part of this country!  Until next year, Happy Birthday America!!

    1. there was a lot of trial and error making those marshmallow cups! most leaked, and scopping out the middle was near impossible! In the end, they were way too big to fit in your mouth! the Picture was our best looking one ;)

  13. What a fun family time! We have a dear friend in Running Springs and love spending weekends there. so relaxing! I wish my family was close enough for family reunions... anytime, but with my siblings on the East coast and my parents in France it's a bit challenging.. we are planning a big family reunion next year though, for my parents' 50th anniversary :-)

  26. Looks like a great 4th with your family. I guess I am curious too about the Pinterest fail part. Just a mess? I like Kalua mixed in other things... I bet the marshmallow was a gooey, sticky mess. Oh, well. Memorable, right?

    1. It was really hard to get the middle out! Then if you get too much out they leak! Once you get the middle out you tend to eat it because you don't know what else to do with the sticky mess. Needless to say, trying to get the perfect marshmallow cup that didn't leak I ate A LOT of marshmallow! I was literally sick to my stomach before the Kaulua was even involved! LOL
